RLOI: Special History Study- Fort Rosalie (Natchez, MS)

Request for Letters of Interest (RLOI): The National Park Service (NPS), Interior Region 2 (IR-2)-South Atlantic-Gulf, is seeking the services of a principal investigator(s)/editor(s) for a project to be funded by the National Park Service (NPS) and coordinated by Natchez National Historical Park (NATC). The project involves the development and production of a multi-authored and multi-chaptered Special History Study detailing the history and significance of the Fort Rosalie Site, with a special focus on the experiences and interactions between people of Native American, European, and African descent. This Special History Study will aid the park in managing the Fort Rosalie resources as well as developing associated interpretive media.

Inventory of Bats at Minute Man National Historical Park to Inform Building Management, Visitor Use Planning, and Potential Consultation

Minute Man National Historical Park (MIMA) needs an inventory of bats to determine presence in areas of proposed building demolition and hazard tree management along trail corridors. An understanding of bat occupancy in these areas will allow proactive planning and appropriate timing of management actions. 

The deadline for responding to this request for LOI is January 24, 2024. 

Natural Resource Condition Assessment for Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument: Request for LOI

Request for letters of interest
The Natural Resource Condition Assessment for Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument will provide the National Park Service (NPS) with a Natural Resource Condition Assessment (NRCA) of Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument (KAWW). NRCAs rely on existing data and expertise from a variety of NPS and non-NPS sources to provide a snapshot-in-time evaluation of resource conditions for a subset of important park natural resources and indicators.

Deer Population Estimation for Northeastern National Parks

Request for LOI: The northeast region of the National Park Service (NPS) has proposed an ambitious effort to improve forest resilience and prepare for the effects of climate change by addressing forest regeneration debt (Miller et al. 2023) in 17 northeastern and mid-Atlantic parks. An important component of the effort will be evaluating current park-level efforts to estimate deer population size and developing a consistent regional approach for long-term deer monitoring. Funding has not yet been announced, but the regional office has been told to expect approximately half of the funding in FY 2024, which will be sufficient to support half of the parks in the proposal as well as the work described in this request for letters of research interest.

Archeology Planning, Survey, Evaluations, Reporting and Education, Fort Drum

RSOI from the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Archeological Planning, Survey, Evaluations, Reporting, and Education for Fort Drum, New York. 

The work shall involve: planning and implementation for archaeological survey; archaeological site evaluation; recommendations for archaeological site stewardship; analysis of finds; cataloguing and curation of cultural material; data management; monitoring of ground disturbing activities; support for outreach and education; and synthesis and reporting of the results of the survey. 

Natural Resource Management Support for Natural Resource Branch, Fort Drum, New York

Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued a Request for Statement to conduct rare, invasive and noxious plant management for the Fort Drum Natural Resources Branch/Environmental Division located at Fort Drum, NY. The scope of this agreement includes supporting the program manager (PM) through various program management duties such as floral and faunal identification; developing and implementing survey and monitoring protocols for species and communities; vegetation and insect classification; compiling installation and regional occurrences of species of management concern; analysis and reporting of findings through technical documentation partnered with GIS interpretation; and developing, testing and analyzing management treatments.
